Killer Kau and Mpura, two notable figures in South Africa’s amapiano universe, had perished alongside three others in a car accident while driving to a gig. Since then, tribute shows have been popping all over South Africa in their memory. Thando Tot was said to have perished in the same accident. Another dead was Khanya “The Voice” Hadebe. His death has been especially hard on his girlfriend, who had apparently been in communication with him before the trip in which he lost his life.
The boys might be gone, but they were clearly loved and apparently still fresh in the memories of those who loved them and those whose lives they touched one way or the other.
Mpura, Killer Kau, TD, Thando Tot & Khanya Hadebe will be missed for their contributions to South Africa’s amapiano universe.
